Whatever the weather

Last night's edition of The Voice returned 4.5m viewers - the lowest total so far, but actually 3% up on its lowest share so far, at 29%. Not even that nice Cheryl Cole could really compete with the weather - and Peter Fincham's team. He scheduled "New You've Been Framed: Full Throttle (clips from the archive) with Harry Hill" at 6.00pm, whilst BBC1 trundled out a repeat of axed  "middle-class" comedy My Family to build The Voice audience (it only got 3.8m when first shown).

The endless hours of Eurovision managed an average of 7.5m.  That compares with an average of 9.5m in 2011 when we were represented by Blue, who came 11th. This year's DQF candidate, Englebert Humperdinck of Great Glen, Leicestershire and Los Angeles, came 25th. DQF ? The BBC knows it can't afford to win this contest in the current licence fee settlement.
