Tangled

Dear readers - apologies for the lack of content yesterday. A poor performance all round, really.

Now to get back on the bicycle - and there are rich pickings in the latest National Audit Office report on the BBC's "support" and "overheads" spending.  Here's two I've enjoyed so far.  The BBC cannot identify what it spends on external training - i.e training people whom it doesn't employ. Honest. Here's the line.  "In our analysis we have not excluded the cost of the external training because the BBC could not separately identify the Academy’s internal and external training costs."

Then, on benchmarking: "Policy & Strategy relies on its knowledge of salaries for comparable roles to benchmark its costs".  This might explains current spending of £6.2m on 30 employees - working out at £206,666 per head. It is down on five years ago - from £8.7m on 36 employees, which was £241,666 per head.
