Enough news

April prime-time ratings for news networks in the USA are not good, year-on-year.

Fox News: 1,850,000 total viewers – flat, 0%; (395,000 in 25-54 – down 9%)
MSNBC: 754,000 total viewers – down 5%; (236,000 in 25-54 – down 9%)
CNN: 508,000 total viewers – down 16%; (149,000 in 25-54 – down 22%)

CNN's prime time is essentially Anderson Cooper, Piers Morgan Tonight, followed by more Anderson Cooper. I haven't yet checked Twitter to see the Morgan Defence - this is an extract from the MSNBC press release.

“The Rachel Maddow Show” at 9 p.m. beat CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” by 78% among A25-54 (287,000 vs. 161,000) and by 74% among total viewers (985,000 vs. 567,000). “The Rachel Maddow Show” has now topped CNN for 27 straight months among total viewers and 13 consecutive months in A25-54.

The only CNN comment I can find in the US press comes from a spokeswoman who says "News ratings are cyclical".
