Getting the message through...

Still six days to apply for the role of Head of Internal Communications for the BBC; Andrea Gwilliam left at the end of January. Here are some of the "key accountabilities".

The development and delivery of a strategic internal communication plan which builds on past success and introduces new creative approaches (What was wrong with the last one ?)

Plays a key role in engaging staff to deliver new ways of working to meet the technological, financial and other challenges the BBC faces. (Don't ask what the new ways of working are....)

Lead and inspire a team of approximately 15 internal communications and engagement experts (Engagement experts = people who Twitter as their principal licence-fee funded activity)

The creation and nurturing of a network of communications across the organisation. (Our old email groups are a bit pants - and the PAs who set them up have left - now no-one knows how to update them)

To feed back to the BBC Direction Group the mood of the organisation and identify hotspots which could benefit from concentrated communications activity. (BBC Direction Group now clearly too frightened to talk to staff on their own....)

Budgetary responsibilities – Control a budget of c £1.5m (including staffing). (It's not a good idea to suggest spending more on parties - unless it's for Breakfast going to Salford).
