Folk not getting on

Radio Scotland is risking the wrath of the folkies. In another schedule change that's caught fire, Mary Ann Kennedy's Global Gathering - ostensibly world music, but with a definite folk feel, inheritor of Celtic Connections - is making way for a programme to be called Classics Unwrapped.

Ms Kennedy, a Glasgow Gael in her mid-forties (Mr Thompson ??) who now lives in Lochaber, is stoical, but one suspects fuming: “It’s a privilege to present a show that sits at the crossroads of Scotland’s inspiring musical creativity and cultural diversity at a time when Scots musicians command respect and admiration from right across the spectrum of global roots music.”

BBC Scotland's side of it ? "BBC Radio Scotland features a wide range of Scottish and international music – including folk, traditional, and global music – elsewhere in its schedule. The station will continue to offer distinctive music across its evening schedule and is committed to promoting new music and Scottish artists within these programmes".
