BBC CFO Zarin Patel, 1.12.2011, on the announcement that Capita had won an eight year contract to collect the licence fee. "This contract represents great value for the licence fee payer. Capita’s bid was the best both in terms of innovation and efficiencies and so offered best value for money".
Capita spokesman,10.1.2012 "As part of a comprehensive review undertaken as part of the bid procurement for the TV licensing contract, Capita has concluded that a revised delivery model is necessary to meet the demands of the contract in the future. As part of that we are proposing to optimise our current structure and relocate work from the existing Capita office in Bristol to other UK locations. This means that about 350 roles in Bristol are 'at risk' of redundancy, although an office will be retained in the city. Final decisions can only be made once employee consultation is complete but the main proposal involves moving roles to three existing UK sites in Darwen, Darlington and Birmingham. As part of our proposals, it is envisaged that a relatively small number of roles will be offshored to Capita's Mumbai business centre; the feasibility of this will be explored as part of the consultation process".
