For the record

Before we get to 2012 predictions, let's prowl round topics on the blog this time a year ago. I asked would 2011 be the year the Daily Mail outstripped BBC News Online in terms of users ? With the Mail breaking 80 million last month (and no monthly publication of BBC stats) I assume that's happened.

On Christmas Day 2010, I ruminated on the thought that the most important job for Lord Patten (not then formally appointed) was to identify someone to follow Mark Thompson as DG.  Pretty proud of that one, and stand by most of the post.

And before the end of the year, we talked about the impending arrival of Radio 4 Extra - which seems to have been that rare thing at the BBC - a fairly painless change. On to 2012, which will be different.....
