Trends in BBC finances are often the best judge of an underlying strategy, if there is one . Below, a graph of total operating costs of the major BBC radio networks since 2008 - the year Tim Davie replaced Jenny Abramsky as Director of Audio & Music. Radio 4 is a steady grower; Parfitt and Shennan have secured boosts for Radio 1 and 2 this year; Radio 3 seems to have peaked, and poor old Radio 5 Live has had almost flat funding - thus facing more cuts than most as it absorbs inflation.
