Getting a rise

In other news, it was "revealed" yesterday that Craig Oliver, now Head of Communications at Number 10, is on £140k pa - I think we knew that at the time of his appointment.  What might be more interesting is that it looks like an improvement on his previous deal. His last role at the BBC was Controller of English, BBC Global News - and as such he was part paid from FCO grant-in-aid and part paid from licence-fee income.  The balance sheet is hard to read (page 46 of this document), but it looks like his total package as he left Auntie was £120k pa.
