Updates a-go-go. Laura Elston, Press Association Royal Reporter, has been cleared, after Paddy Harverson (spokesman for Prince Charles, previously Manchester United) confirmed he'd borrowed her mobile to access his own voicemails on a Royal trip to Lesotho in 2006. You'd like to think the Yard would have contacted Paddy before arresting her on the 27 June - and subsequently subjecting her to three weeks of anxiety.
Assistant Commissioner John Yates has resigned. His role will be filled by Cressida Dick - who was a contemporary of the BBC's Robert Peston at Balliol College Oxford.
