Boss class

Last month the BBC published updated information on senior managers' pay by division and salary bands - covering bosses operating underneath those who get their names, exact salaries and expenses published.

There has been some change since the first publication in January, but some of it reflects re-organisation rather than reduction or growth. For those where you can compare like with like, Vision has 59 unnamed managers on packages worth more than £100k, compared with 73 in January; BBC North has 12, down from 14 in January; Audio & Music has 8, one down from January. Finance has 19, one down from January.  News has grown, from 30 to 41, as Nations and Regions managers have been re-allocated.

Operations has 50, compared with 30 in January, after further re-allocation. I'm not sure what's happened to the DG's Office and Executive Unit, but that now carries 23% of the Senior Manager population, up from 19% in January, and packages over £100k have risen from 30 to 50.   So the Thom(p)son Twins, Mark and Caroline have some cutting to do in their own backyards, if they're going to please Lord Patten, who has noted more senior leaders in the organisation than he met on a visit to China.
