Radio listeners will hear the true spirit of cost-saving and compromise on Radio Five Live and Radio Four overnight. For the first time for a long time, there's a single, shared, programme covering the Scottish, Welsh and North Ireland elections, and English council results (adding in the AV referendum, a by-election, and a mayoral contest or two). Controllers Adrian Van Klaveren and Gwyneth Williams have reached a deal that some of their predecessors found difficult. The joint show, Vote 2011, starts at 0030 (0100 for Radio 4 listeners on longwave), and finishes at 0520, when Radio Five Live listeners get a truncated Morning Reports, and Radio Four forecasts the weather for shipping.
Presenters are Aasmah Mir in London, and Maestro James Naughtie in Glasgow. Producer is Scott Solder, from Five Live.
