Brand management

What next for brand Tim Davie ?  I still suspect he fancied the job George Entwistle got at Vision/Television, and now has to re-group, with new BBC Chairman Chris Patten saying some executive salaries are still too high.

Tim runs c1,400 staff at Audio & Music, with an annual budget of around £600m, on a salary of £365k (package worth a neat £452k). George now runs some 3,500 staff, with an annual budget of around £1.7bn, on a salary of £270k.

Long-distance runner Tim has plenty of time to reflect on relativities, and the prospect of 20% cuts in the years to come. At 44, it may be that he's stepped up the old networking this week - he's been spotted at breakfast in The Wolseley, and dined at Claridges with chums from the Marketing Group of Great Britain. Maybe the cv is being dusted off, with more emphasis on the male toiletries years at Procter & Gamble and the blue-Concorde-for-blue-Pepsi triumph.
