In theory, BBC News is under new management from today, with the end of the "Journalism Directorate". However, the bosses have been so busy writing and delivering farewell tributes to leavers that the new structure won't be revealed to staff until next week.
One of my most popular posts of last year, Prune Time, looked at the savings potential of a simpler structure. And this looked at crashing three boards into one. I haven't really got any inside track on what structure will be finally laid out to run the expanded flock of 9,000 staff, but Fudge Time is a working title for the post......
Meanwhile, the Executive Board sails on. Latest minutes show Lucy Adams still attending, despite her demoted title; formal elevation for Ralph Rivera, as Director, Future Media; agreement, but no text shared on Future Governance of the World Service and BBC Monitoring: and I particular enjoyed this minute, noting discussion of next year's objectives.
4.2 Executive Board discussed the objectives and considered amendments to the drafting. In particular the Board considered whether there was a need for a timeframe/qualifier around the Guaranteeing Access objective and whether the Improving Communications action needed to be directed at a particular level of BBC leadership.
My italics. I wonder who copped for it. Someone from DQF ?
