Dizzy heights

Detail is important in obituaries, and I have been alerted to some errors in the Radio 4 midnight bulletin, Sunday into Monday, by someone who ought to have been asleep. It was a piece on Sherpa Nawang Gombu, nephew of Tenzing Norgay. Gombu was the youngest Sherpa on Sir John Hunt's 1953 expedition to Mount Everest.  Unfortunately, it was described as Sir Edmund Hillary's expedition.  A later reference was made to "Sir Hillary".

Nawang Gombu was, for twenty years, the only man to reached the summit of Everest twice - once in 1963 and then again in 1965.  Gombu was 79, and is survived by his wife, five children and nine grandchildren.
