I lost a little sleep last night wondering why on earth the BBC Delivering Quality First teams should be considering which radio stations should be available nationally on DAB, and which locally/regionally. It's one of the few details that's come out of the reprieve of the Asian Network.
Below are maps of (left) national DAB coverage - the more pink the better the signal - and (right) the local multiplex licences (not coverage - the transmitter system is by no means complete, and the signals do overlap a little). Which patches would you choose and why for a service aimed at younger British Asians ? If you were an ITV producer, you might be in trouble for for saying there's no point in a transmitter pointing at Midsomer. Let's hope the same happens to any BBC member of staff.
