Production values
Bob Shennan, Controller of BBC Radio 2 and 6Music, is putting more programmes out to tender on both networks. Most are existing formats, currently produced in-house - now the in-house teams will have to bid against indies to retain the work. If it's down to price, then the in-house teams might find it hard, given BBC-enforced overheads. Bob makes savings in his commissioning budget, the BBC reduces headcount - still doesn't feel right.
