I'll see your 20%, and...

Old radio and tv hands Phil Riley and David Lloyd are enjoying teasing the BBC in its current financial difficulties. The pair now run Orion Media, after careers which involved rebuilding LBC into a half-decent money- making operation, once free of some odd Australian ideas.

Orion has some long-established names in Midlands radio, including BRMB, Beacon, Wyvern and Mercia.  And, according to Radio Today,  Phil and David have written to the BBC offering to run BBC WM, auntie's local radio station based in Birmingham. Phil says they could maintain a full service, but "From our understanding of the costs of running BBC WM, we believe we could achieve a fifty percent saving".

There's a challenge for the Delivering Quality First radio workstream, currently on a grand tour of middle England radio stations.
