Take it away, Tel

Radio 2's commitment to live music seems to be weakening by the day.  First, the Electric Proms bite the dust. Now it seems Sir Terry Wogan's Sunday variety extravaganza from the BBC Radio Theatre, featuring the MU's delight, the Elio Pace House Band, and sundry guest stars, may be moved "indoors", with the great man back in an audience-free studio, playing records.

Wogan's last live show was just before Christmas; Michael Ball has been been keeping the seat warm, but El Tel is due back soon.  Anymore exciting news to come from R2 before the end of the financial year ?

  • Terry's tv travelogues on old Ireland are over, but the debate about their insights lingers on. One of his contributors, cheekily dubbed Gaybo, has had to explain why he was filmed not quite wearing a seatbelt. Gay Byrne is Chairma of the Republic's Road Safety Committee.
