There'll be an small outbreak of warm cava at Radio 5 Live today, wth the station breaking through two 'psychological' barriers in the latest audience fgures - 7m for the station as a whole (7.2m if you include Sports Extra); and 3.2m for the Breakfast programme.
TalkSport has also done well, breaching 3m for the first time. But it's the BBC's quarter - with all networks up year on year, including an 18% boost for Radio 3, nearly 5% for Radio 4, 3.5% for Radio 2 and 6% for Radio 1. Listening to the World Service in the UK was up by 19%. And the combined total for BBC Scotland, Wales, Ulster and English local radio rose by 11%.
On the digital-only side of life, Radio 6 Music was up 64% year on year, 1Xtra up 54%, and, joy of joys, the Asian Network up 32.5% (and listening hours up 39%).
