Quizzical

Ofcom's latest radio bulletin reflects the ruthless world that is local, semi-automated commercial radio.  The breakfast host on Banbury Sound/Touch FM was reported to new management by colleagues for using his 17-year-old son as a fake "Quizroads" contestant, when the real entrant couldn't be contacted.   Though there was never any intention of it going of past the first round, the presenter has left the station.  And new owners, Quidem, reported themselves to Ofcom, and were duly deemed to have broken the rules.

Ofcom gives no names, but before Christmas, station managing director and breakfast host Dave Collins stepped aside, making way for up and coming new star Lucy Jones.

Meanwhile Dale Collins on Facebook ("worked at Banbury Sound as managing director") is keen that his friends attend local pub quizzes. 2nd January at The George in Littlemore, 4th January at The Chequered Flag in Brackley, and tonight (and every Monday) at The Church House in Banbury.  Probably a good thing that pubs shouldn't serve 17-year-olds.
