The politics of Sunday

The Adam-Boulton-sized hole in the Sky News Sunday schedule has been filled.  Adam is moving to a new weekday slot in the New Year, with Boulton & Co trying to steal viewers away from The Daily Politics with Andrew Neil on BBC2.

No new face, though, at the weekends.  It'll be Dermot Murnaghan competing for the duty politicians on Sunday, sandwiched between the BBC's Andrew Marr and Jon Sopel.

The UK Sunday tv early political spot was established by and for David Frost on TV-am in 1983, who took the format on to BSkyB and then the BBC.   Sunday interviews had been a feature before that on LWT's Weekend World, from 1972.   BBC Radio 4 was there even earlier, with The World This Weekend on the air 1967.
