Puzzling noises from emanating from Radio 2, via Radio Today. The trade site quotes Controller Bob Shennan as saying that the Chris Evans show will start at 0630 from Monday, in a move though designed to draw attention from the launch of Smooth Radio as a national service. Evans is quoted as saying "Less sleep but no matter - more music, more fun and more coffee very much required. Oh and of course extra yoga and meditation."
At time of writing both the official Radio 2 site and the Radio Times have the Chris Evans show still starting at 7am - with Richard Madeley sitting in.
Of course, R2 listeners who have enjoyed Lynn Parsons doing the Early Breakfast since the departure of Sarah Kennedy will now be able to enjoy her on Smooth breakfast - until Simon Bates arrives. Is that all clear ?
1045 Sunday update: Whatever Bob Shennan thinks about his schedule, Chris Evans is tweeting that he's off Radio 2 for a week, and may swim straight on from the Ryder Cup to the Dunhill Cup. So it's Richard Madeley to face the ravages of Smooth Radio...
