In the Telegraph's scouring of the latest BBC expenses disclosures, they found that Bob Shennan, the Controller of Radio 2 and 6 Music, spent £217 on “wine purchased for the team” on February 16th, the night of the Brit Awards. He claimed another £439 on drinks for 12 people at the Music Week awards in April, £168 at the Sony Awards and £202 at the Ivor Novello Awards.
Other bits of the equation are missing. Usually, at awards ceremonies, only nominees get their seats "free". I can't find the table prices for the Ivor Novello awards, but the cheapest price for ten tickets for the Music Week Awards was £2,000; individual seats at the Sony Awards were £195 in 2009, and individual tickets for the Brits started at a staggering £1,145.
