That's the conclusion you have to come to, after revelations in Scotland on Sunday that Donald Trump was prepared to give up on his bid to build a course north of Aberdeen when planning permission was refused by local councillors in 2007. Trump says he was called by "The Executive" shortly after the news.
"They called me and really wanted me to continue going forward. I said are you kidding ? I just lost. I don't like to lose. They said no, you'll win. They didn't want me to leave." Within a week, the local decision was "called in", and pushed forward to a public inquiry, then approved by John Swinney, and construction is now well underway.
