What do the following have in common ? Gloria Hunniford, Alice Beer, Amanda Redington, Juliet Morris, Esther McVey, Philippa Forrester, Phil Hammond, Yvette Fielding. All stars, indeed, in their own right at one time in their careers, but perhaps, since hosting Heaven and Earth, the BBC 1 Sunday morning religious magazine show, not quite the top-dollar hosts they used to be ? Or did they take the show because not much else was on offer ?
Heaven & Earth ran for nine years til 2007. There have been various attempts at a replacement. Sunday Life, with Louise Minchin and Colin Jackson ran for 2008. Nicky Campbell hosts the current runner, The Big Questions.
But Richard Bacon and Susannah Reid get to cover this year's summer break, with a show imaginatively titled Sunday Morning Live. What will the opportunity do for their careers ?

Is that hour the one known as the God slot? I quite like Heaven and Earth, thought Sunday Life was dire and enjoy The Big Question even though I have met Nicky Campbell and don't like him.
ReplyDeleteI met Susannah Reid at an event in the past and she was lovely but I don't actually like her presenting style so it will be interesting to see her pairing with Richard Bacon works. Thanks for pointing that out. I shall look forward to watching !
