The last officially-calculated figure for the cost per listener hour of 6Music came out at 3.4p, quoted by the BBC Trust in their review of the station and Radio 2. That compares with 6.3p for Radio 3, 2.3 for Radio 4 and 0.5p for Radio 2. Listening hours for 6Music now stand at 7,852,000, so it would be reasonable to ask for a recalculation.
It would also be useful to know what has happened to the number of unique or "solus" listeners - an odd measure of success or failure previously used by Mark Thompson, in defence of the decision to close 6Music.
Meanwhile Twitterers have noted the lack of comment from Mark and Tim Davie on 6Music's improvement. Bob Shennan, Controller Radio 2 and 6Music said “I’m delighted for the whole 6 Music team on reaching the milestone figure of one million listeners per week. It’s fantastic that the station’s efforts have been rewarded in this way.”
