Making it clear

You have until 17th May to hand in your application for the Controller's role at BBC Radio 4 and Radio 7. One of your first jobs will be to hire someone who can write better ads. Formulaic and prolix. Maybe Tim wrote it.

We are looking for an outstanding and inspirational leader with a passionate commitment to maintaining our reputation of [surely 'for' ?] quality and creativity within BBC Radio 4 and Radio 7. ['within' ? Wouldn't it be good to have a reputation outside as well ?]

Your leadership and strategic vision will shape the direction and development of Radio 4 and Radio 7 and the people who deliver it. You’ll become a member of our Audio & Music Board, and play a major part in shaping the direction of the BBC's Radio portfolio, meeting the needs and expectations of our audiences.

A recognised industry figure with substantial editorial experience and a formidable creative reputation, you will have a significant track record of shaping policy, editorial initiatives and directing strategic development issues. [Anyone have a clue what a strategic development issue is, and why it might need directing ?] With the ability to demonstrate leadership, you’ll have had considerable experience of managing teams within a similar environment. Together with a love of speech based radio including news, current affairs, drama, comedy and magazine programmes and an understanding of our audiences, you’ll know how to challenge traditional assumptions, while contributing your original ideas and developing talent.
