21 days in March

I'm wondering what impact the threat hanging over 6Music and The Asian Network will have on their audience figures. RAJAR, the industry-supported body that provides figures for public consumption every three months, is doing its "fieldwork" for Quarter 1, 2010 between 4 January and 28 March. The results are a combination of listening diaries filled in by people already signed up, with background questions about other things in their lives; and standard doorstep/street/phone interviews by market researchers, to balance things out. The BBC Strategy Review came out officially on 2nd March; even if diarists only altered their listening from today, there are still 21 days that might make a difference.

Tim Davie, interviewed on Radio 4's Feedback, seemed very happy with an audience figure of close to 1 million for BBC Radio 7. Can 6Music get there in just three weeks ?

The results are made public on Thursday 13 May.
