US local news aggregator FWIX is trying its hand in the UK, offering what it calls "real time local news" by skimming partner sites and providing links. First up London, Birmingham and Liverpool. However, top story on the Liverpool site, at 0800 Tuesday, was a preview of last Sunday's Chelsea v Liverpool fixture. Maybe algorithms need adjusting for the British market.
