Keith Macklin, a pivotal figure in news/sport, tv/radio broadcasting in the north of England has died, aged 78. (Radio Today) For me, watching in Liverpool, he hosted the pre-cursor to Look North (Manchester) from 1960-65 (thus including tentative references from Manchester to the emerging Liverpool music scene). Then, in the vacuum left after Eddie Waring, he became the voice of Rugby League; and for 25 years he was part of Red Rose Radio.
Keith, like myself, was an old boy of Prescot Grammar School.
