An argument about percentages of presenters from ethnic minorities bounces round between Operation Black Vote, The Guardian and Radio 4. The charge is that the network's website lists 92 presenters - all white, except the estimable, unsung, Ritula Shah and the rather more egregious Hardeep Singh Kohli. Mark Damazer's answer is that he is trying - 33 ethnic minority contributors made programmes this year - but the move up to regular presenter will be made according to talent, not quota.
The issue of percentages of ethnic minority staff behind the scenes was not put by OBV - how close are Radio 4 and its suppliers to the 12.5% target, to be achieved by 2012 ?
