Google's next big thing is WAVE, and it looks like it's going to tie people to computers for much longer, but more effectively. The trick is you can type talk and share information with individuals in near-real time. And the design, in whatever browser you use, is much snazzier than any bulletin board (and, dare I say it, it's real rival, Facebook).

If you're fed up reading email chains in the wrong order, the message stream has a playback facility, so they can be made to re-appear in the order they were written. Should make organising pub nights much easier.
