Keep your seat

Could a successful British bid for the 2018 World Cup preserve the 80,000 seats in the London Olympic stadium ? That's the hint from Margaret Ford of the London Olympics legacy committee, in a story first covered by the Evening Standard. At present, the stadium designers are working to a plan which removes 55,000 seats once the games are over, and converts much of the stadium infrastructure to a sports school. Now architects Populous (formerly HOK Sport Venue) are sharpening their pencils and powering up their calculators for a late change request, which at the very least will involve screwing a few more seats down.
