I'm anxious about a range of things for the BBC at the moment... What are Mark Thompson and Eric Schmidt of Google cooking up ? Why are the BBC and Ofcom spatting over regional news funding ? What will tomorrow's Public Accounts Committee report on BBC radio "efficiency" say ? Why on earth, on BBC evening bulletins last night, was Mark Easton plomped into a speedboat on the Thames outside the Houses of Parliament, for a piece which essentially attacked profligacy ?
And now, the BBC, as reported by Radio Today, offers trials of "enhanced visualisation" of radio programmes, talking about "glanceable" content to go with Simon Mayo, then Chris Moyles and others. Dangerous stuff, when commercial competitors in radio don't have the resources to attempt similar trials, and when commercial competitors in tv think the BBC is just finding ways of adding channels.
