See you in court

Poynter Online reviews the idea, floated in some US newspapers, of using the concept of misappropriation in the courts to control how newspaper and agency content now reaches us through search engines (mainly Google).

The case law, as captured by Harvard's Law School website, hasn't got federal status, but has a background in the First World War, and an action brought by AP against another wire service that was re-writing and re-issuing AP reports as its own work. And some good stuff at the end about animal noises....
