8 architects and a critic will probably be in the pub tomorrow night (though not perhaps the nearby Masons Arms) when Prince Charles gives his eagerly anticipated RIBA lecture.
Peter Ahrends of ABK, Will Alsop of Alsop Architects, Ted Cullinan of Edward Cullinan, critic Paul Finch, Tony Fretton of Tony Fretton Architects, Piers Gough of CZWG, Ms M J Long of Long and Kentish, Ian Ritchie of Ian Ritchie Architects and Chris Wilkinson of Wilkinson Eyre signed a letter to the Guardian on Saturday, urging a boycott of the lecture.
The row is over the Richard Rogers' scheme for the Chelsea Barracks site, which the letter writers say Prince Charles is trying to block "outside the democratic process", by publishing alternative schemes.
As another letter to the Guardian suggests this morning, they could simply change RIBA to IBA....
