Monday morning - and things I missed last week don't seem to add up. Mark Thompson says BBC can find £400m of additional savings (required by the impact of the recession on licence fee income, amongst other things) over the next three years, without impact on jobs or quality of output. And the Trust is able to approve a 27% increase in spending on BBC online services.
Meanwhile DMGT plans to shed 1,000 jobs around the country. This makes the arrival of a Mail leader supporting the BBC even more unlikely than a ...... (fill in Blackadder-type analogy).
