Sir Norman Foster's team, working with Aston Martin, have won joint first prize in Mayor Boris' competition for a new "Routemaster". Norm tells Building Design "Our design seeks to combine contemporary innovation with timelessness.” Photovoltaic cells on the top deck, leather seats, wooden floors. Green, maybe, but somehow, the combination with Aston Martin doesn't shriek "value for money".
Capoco, who've been designing British coaches, buses and bin lorries since 1977 from offices near Salisbury, were the other winners, with their effort sponsored by Autocar.
