Shrinking
The BBC's plans for local video on broadband would have created more than 430 jobs around the country - but it's seems that cancelling those plans will mean more job losses in the Nations and Regions. Clearly, with a bigger pool of journalists, efficiencies could have been achieved for existing output - the best of the local films would also have appeared on the 1830 opt-outs; local radio stations could have expected more voice pieces to fill their bulletins, etc. Now people held against that vision of a more efficient way of working will have to go, according to reports collated by Paid Content. And the Trust wants the BBC to concentrate on improving current local output.....
