John Plunkett in the Guardian has offered a preliminary list of possible contenders for the vacancy as Controller Radio 2. If he's right, BBC Director of Audio & Music, Tim Davie, 41, may well be choosing an older man (if I could only nail Mark Story's age).
Bob Shennan, ex C4 Radio (unheard) and 5Live....46
Radio 1 boss Andy Parfitt (plus 1Xtra, Asian Network and Switch)....50
GMG Radio chief executive John Myers (Smooth Radio)....50
David Lloyd, ex Virgin Radio.....47
Global Radio's Richard Park (Capital, Heart, Classic FM)...60
GCap Media executive Steve Orchard...49
Bauer Radio's Mark Story (Kiss, Magic) is very coy about his age - this year he claimed to have more than 30 years' experience in radio - having started on RTE at the age of 9.
