BBC jobs

The Guardian had this email from the BBC's Mark Thompson to his staff on Friday. In other, less febrile times, it might have made newspaper headlines at the weekend - "stark jobs warning" "£140m gap" etc... Nonetheless you get the feeling that BBC staff are being lined up for further cuts, despite the apparent security of licence fee income. Let's hope that the new "efficiencies" are what's needed to make the business work, rather than what's deemed necesary, in PR terms, to match the pain of commercially-funded competition.
