More than occasionally, BBC News references success in other parts of the BBC schedule. Last night's tentpole moment was, apparently, the final of the current series of Gladiators, awarded third headline by the late Saturday bulletin editor, intoned by Ben Brown (in his reverse Dan Roan stance).
The item said it was the most popular programme for under 15s (without exact statistics). It first re-appeared in January last year, with seven-day-viewing figures for the opening episode at 8.7m. However this year's penultimate episode only attracted 3.3m. Let not that get in the way of two minutes of programme clips and kiddie vox pops.
