Customer care

I'm never really sure that Tim Davie's White Hot BBC is that much ahead of the game on all this personalisation stuff.  It's only just going out to tender for a Customer Data Platform, on which it estimates spend of £8m to £10m over the next seven years. And it doesn't expect the platform to be in operation for the first of those seven years, ominously referred to in the tender as Year 0 for 'integration/transition'.

"The BBC is looking for the service of a Customer Data Platform (CDP), which will be responsible for data management, campaign management and activation. The service will ingest, host, model and manage data by connecting to the BBC's data warehouse, and will manage platform access to this data. It will also oversee campaign creation, orchestration and activation across multiple owned, CRM and paid media channels."
