Size matters

And, as July drifts to a close, there's still no sign of the new-look BBC weather forecasts, originally promised for 'spring'.

Channel 4's Liam Dutton last week managed to add some new graphics, with the help of the new BBC contractor, Meteo Group, which show clouds above a slowly-spinning globe. There's no immediate sign of an audience biteback ("Scotland's too small", "Where's Hull, etc").

It's unlikely that a BBC re-launch will escape without hoo-ha. Is it possible that Auntie will return to the maps of Gerardus Mercator, first produced in 1569, which give Scotland the appearance of a greater landmass in proportion to the rest of the UK ?  Mmmm.
