Fearless, out-of-contract Emily Maitlis co-presented Newsnight from Washington last night - until the heavens opened, and junior producers failed to produce umbrellas. Her two guests were quickly saturated; there was no further shot of Emily - Daily Mail Online hacks were presumably salivating - and the camera cut back to Evan in London. Whether Emily was just too damp to be seen, or the equipment gave up, we'll never know.
