New chums

BBC Worldwide has a new partner in operating UKTV; US cable channel giant Discovery is taking over Scripps Interactive, and their 50% share in UKTV. Discovery has been circling UKTV since 2011, when it tried to buy out the BBC's then partner, Virgin Media.

Discovery claimes 3 billion viewers worldwide. In the UK you can, subject to your provider, see The Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery History, Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo, Discovery Shed, DMAX, Home and Health, Investigation Discovery, Quest, and TLC.

The deal may bring renewed contact with former BBC finance operative Dominic Coles, now billed as Vice President, Strategic Projects for Discovery.
