Loose ends

I was previously worried about a couple of BBC managers whose names had moved to italic in the disclosed salaries list.

Turns out they're both ok; Preston-based Ian Haythornthwaite, previously Director of Finance, has emerged as Chief Financial and Operating Officer, Nations and Regions, joining Ken MacQuarrie's small but perfectly formed team. If your instincts said that this looks a slightly less important job, our Ian has secured a £1k rise, to £241k. Presumably he's lost London Weighting.

Meanwhile, James Heath, previously Director of Policy and Charter, is re-billed as Director of Policy. Again, the wodge seems to have improved, to £155,091.

  • In the transformative, best-practice recruitment world of BBC HR, we welcome Noel Scotford as HR Director of Systems and Management Information, on a mere £175k. He previously worked at Amey, alongside Valerie Hughes D'Aeth, "leading the programme of business process improvement and technology change within HR". Maybe the Management Information packs can use a little more bold in highlighting gender pay issues.
