Daytripper

BBC News boss James Harding has promised more what he calls 'slow news', and is leading from the front. This week, his World Service programme, 'On Background' featured a 25 minute interview with former French President, Valery Giscard D'Estaing, 90, cut up into two chunks.

To drive forward to deeper insights, the budget stretched to (at least) two Eurostar returns, as James and his co-host, Zanny Minton-Beddoes applied their chemistry to VGE face to face in Paris.
