The loneliest night of the week....

Saturday nights on BBC2 is the new home of "Arts", according to the latest press release from the BBC.

The package is introduced by Director of Arts, Jonty Claypole (salary still undisclosed), and big on partnerships: "Together we can get more people engaging and participating in the arts right across the UK."

Right across the UK includes working with the Battersea Arts Centre; a performance by Kate Tempest in Brockley; Alan Bennett in Shepherd's Bush and Primrose Hill, and a two-part film on London auctioneers Christie's. For balance, there is a poetry train journey from London to Glasgow; a visit to Leicester; and a Willy Russell/Julie Walters re-union in Liverpool.

The commitment to the arts sees the only new edition of Imagine we have on the horizon (Yentob travels to Jamaica with Marlon James) move from BBC1 to BBC2.
